The Boo-Boos That Changed the World: A True Story About an Accidental Invention (Really!)
Written by: Barry Wittenstein
Illustrated by: Chris Hsu

Ever wonder how band-aids were invented? Earle and Josephine were newly weds in 1917. Josephine was accident prone and her husband wanted to help. He used cotton, tape and gauze to create something that could be applied easily. The idea was taken to a company where the combine “bandage” and “first aid” to call them bandaids. Over a few years, there were several modifications to the product. Once they got bandaids into the hands of Boy Scouts and WWII soldiers, the product was a big hit and is how we know it today.
