In the early 1900’s, from a young age, Joan loved reptiles. As a young woman, she worked in a Natural History Museum where she students reptiles and published her findings. Eventually, she took over and was known for creating beautiful exhibits that had what the reptiles needed. People were fascinated with Komodo Dragons because they did not know a lot about them. Jane noticed one Komodo Dragon not doing well and took care of him. His name was Sumbawa and Jane and her dragon could be found together giving presentations to report new research or walking through the zoo for many years.
