T is for This & Tricky

Working through the alphabet and sharing some of my favorite picture books.

This Book is Banned
Written by: Raj Haldar
Illustrated by: Julia Patton

A humorous book to explain what a banned book is and perfect to start a conversation. The book bans animals, foods, roller-skating robots, etc. The book ends with the line, “We banned everything and there’s no ending left to read.” Kid friendly while allowing for the opportunity to have a conversation about banned books.

Tricky Chopsticks
Written by: Sylvia Chen
Illustrated by: Fanny Liem

A celebration of culture! Jenny Chow could not master chopsticks. The book explores how she learns and is filled with onomatopoeia’s based on Chinese words. The illustrations are stunning and you will be routing for Jenny the entire way!

Please support these authors by purchasing their book, requesting from your library, leaving a review and/or telling another book lover about the books.

  1. I love onomatopoeia – it always was so fun to read children’s books with it when my niece and nephew were little (probably because I wasn’t very good at doing different character voices)
