Cactus Queen: Minerva Hoyt Establishes Joshua Tree National Park
Written by: Lori Alexander
Illustrated by: Jenn Ely
A powerful story about perseverance and determination. Minerva saw the beauty in the Joshua trees that people were removing from the desert in the 1920s. She had a goal and a dream to turn the desert into a National Park. Through grit, perseverance and the help of others, we have Joshua Tree National Park. A perfect story for Earth Day or Women’s History Month….and every day in between.

I never realized how interesting and beautiful cartoons were until I saw them at Joshua NP. Cicadas don’t have the beauty appeal but are interesting. Nice selection
